Is the HiFiMan Ananda worth it at $244.99?

At $244.99 on eBay as of November 7, 2026, it is well below the model's usual new pricing, so it is a strong buy if you want open-back planar sound and have a quiet room. Check that the listing is a new, warrantied unit.

Do I need an amplifier for the Ananda?

No. At 93.5 dB and 24 Ω it plays loud from a phone or a USB dongle. A desktop amp mainly helps with headroom and cleaner bass.

Can I use the Ananda for commuting or in an office?

Not really. It is open-back, so it leaks sound and lets noise in. It suits a quiet room at home.

What cable and connectors does it use?

It uses dual 3.5 mm TRS connectors at the cups. The box includes a 1.5 m cable and a 6.35 mm adapter, and aftermarket balanced cables are widely available.

How does the Ananda compare with the Sundara?

The Ananda has a larger driver, a wider stage and a lighter clamp than the Sundara, but it is also heavier and costs more. The Sundara is the cheaper entry point.

When is the Ananda cheapest?

Planar headphones like this tend to drop during major sales events and when a successor launches. Track its price history and buy when a new-unit listing falls well under its usual range.

Our take on the HiFiMan Ananda

The HiFiMan Ananda is an open-back planar magnetic headphone built around a large ~80 x 60 mm diaphragm, with a rated 5Hz–55kHz response and 93.5 dB sensitivity at 24 Ω. It is easy to drive from a phone or dongle but rewards a decent amp, and its open design leaks sound both ways. At $244.99 on eBay as of November 7, 2026, it sits far below what this model has typically sold for new, so this is a strong price if the listing is a genuine new unit.
