Our take on the Hokku Designs Gia Power Reclining Sofa with USB Port

The Hokku Designs Gia is an 87.8-inch power reclining sofa upholstered in velvet (polyester blend), with square arms and a built-in USB port for charging phones and tablets. It seats three and measures 40.16 inches high by 38.2 inches deep, so it needs a fair amount of wall clearance for the recline. It is a broad, soft, fabric-first sofa rather than a compact or leather recliner.

Questions and answers

Is the Gia sofa worth it?
If you want a wide velvet recliner with power controls and a USB port, it is a reasonable pick, and owners rate it 4.6 out of 5. Skip it if you have pets, or if you cannot give up the wall space behind it.
How much room does it need behind it to recline?
Power recliners of this type typically need several inches of clearance behind the backrest, so plan on roughly 4 to 6 inches from the wall. Measure your room before ordering, since the sofa is 38.2 inches deep.
Does the USB port charge fast?
The built-in USB port is meant for topping up phones and tablets while you sit, not for fast charging. Expect standard USB power rather than a quick-charge port.
Is velvet a good choice for a family sofa?
Velvet feels soft and looks upscale, but it shows crushing, pet hair and oily marks. It is better for adults in a low-traffic room than for kids and pets.
What are the dimensions and seating capacity?
It measures 87.8 inches wide, 40.16 inches high and 38.2 inches deep, and it seats three adults. Check doorways and stair turns against the 87.8-inch width before delivery.
When is the best time to buy it?
Watch the price history around major sale events like Memorial Day, Labor Day and Black Friday, when furniture discounts are deepest. Compare the current price against its recent range before buying.
