Does the middle seat recline?

On the standard Cagney power sofa, the two end seats recline and the middle seat is fixed. Check the specific SKU with the dealer, because Southern Motion builds several Cagney configurations.

How much wall clearance does it need?

Southern Motion's power recliners are designed to recline with only a few inches behind the back, but leave at least 4 to 6 inches for the cord and frame. Measure the 89-inch width plus side clearance before ordering.

Is it worth it over a cheaper reclining sofa?

You pay for US construction and a reclining mechanism built by a dedicated recliner maker. If you want a sofa that lasts through daily use, it is a reasonable step up; if you rarely recline, a fixed sofa costs less.

What is the weight limit per seat?

Southern Motion does not publish a single figure for every Cagney SKU, but its reclining mechanisms are typically rated around 350 pounds per seat. Confirm the rating for your exact model with the dealer.

Does it come with a warranty?

Southern Motion covers the frame and reclining mechanism for a limited period, with shorter coverage on fabric and power components. Ask the dealer for the written warranty terms before you buy.

Our take on the Southern Motion Cagney Upholstered 89" Power Reclining Sofa

The Southern Motion Cagney is an 89-inch fabric sofa with power reclining seats, built for living rooms that need three-across seating with motorized recline. Southern Motion makes its recliners in Mississippi and sells through furniture stores rather than big-box chains, so pricing varies widely by dealer. The 89-inch width needs a wall with roughly 7 feet of clear space, and power models need an outlet within reach of the cord.
