Questions and answers

Is the Hornady Alpha Elite worth it?
Yes, if you want a certified steel pistol box for a car, a nightstand or airline travel at a low price. It is not a substitute for a full-size home safe.
Will a full-size 1911 fit?
Yes. Hornady rates the interior for 1911-size pistols and 4-inch revolvers. The interior is 9.75 x 7.5 x 2.25 inches, so tall sights or optics may not clear the lid.
Can I fly with it?
It meets TSA guidelines for firearms storage, and it is CA DOJ approved. Check your airline's rules and use a locked hard case for the firearm itself.
Does it have a combination or biometric lock?
No. It uses a barrel key lock and ships with two keys. There is no keypad or fingerprint reader.
Is it fireproof?
No. It has no fire resistance rating. It is built for security and travel, not fire protection.
When is it cheapest?
