Our take on the Hozelock Auto Reel 20 m

The Hozelock Auto Reel is a wall-mounted hose reel with a spring-driven retraction system, so the hose winds itself back in with a short tug. It ships with a 20 m hose, a 2 m feeder hose and fittings, and mounts to a wall or bracket. The best new price is $399.18 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, with only two stores listing it new. That is a high price for a hose reel, so compare it against a plain reel and loose hose before buying.

Best for
Homeowners with a fixed outdoor tap and wall space
Gardeners who want fast, tidy hose storage
Watering large gardens, beds and borders
Washing cars and cleaning patios
Pros
  • Self-retracting hose winds in with a short pull
  • Wall-mounted, so it keeps the hose off the ground
  • 20 m hose plus 2 m feeder hose included
  • Hozelock connectors fit standard Hozelock fittings
  • Good for watering, car washing and cleaning
Cons
  • $399.18 is expensive for a hose reel
  • Only two stores list it new, so price competition is thin
  • Plastic body and reel, not metal
  • Needs a solid wall and a nearby tap
  • Spring rewind can be stiff on long pulls

Questions and answers

Is the Hozelock Auto Reel 20 m worth $399.18?
Only if self-winding storage matters a lot to you. A plain wall reel and a separate 20 m hose cost far less, but you wind it by hand.
What is included in the box?
The reel unit, a 20 m hose, a 2 m feeder hose and Hozelock connectors. Check the listing for the exact fittings before buying.
Does it fit a standard outdoor tap?
Yes, it uses Hozelock tap connectors, which fit most standard outdoor taps. You may need an adapter for non-standard threads.
How does the auto rewind work?
A spring inside the reel pulls the hose back in when you tug it. Pull out only as much hose as you need and let it retract slowly.
When is it cheapest?
Only two stores list it new, so prices move little. Watch for seasonal garden sales and compare both listings before buying.
