Is this laptop good for everyday office work?

Yes. The i5-8250U, 32 GB of RAM and SSD handle email, documents, video calls and heavy multitasking without strain. It is not suited to gaming or video editing.

Is the 1600x900 screen a problem?

It is the weakest part. At 17.3 inches the pixel density is low, so text is less crisp than on a 1080p or higher panel. Check it in person if sharp text matters to you.

Can I upgrade to Windows 11?

The i5-8250U is on Microsoft's supported processor list, so Windows 11 can usually be installed if the machine has TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot enabled. Confirm both before buying.

Is 32 GB of RAM overkill?

For basic web and Office use, yes; 16 GB would do. The extra memory helps with large spreadsheets, many open tabs and virtual machines, and it cannot be added cheaply later on many laptops.

Is $2,149.99 a good price?

It is steep for an 8th-generation i5 with a 900p screen; comparable current 17-inch business laptops often cost less. The price reflects the 32 GB and 1 TB configuration, so compare against newer models before committing.

What comes in the box?

Typically the laptop, its power adapter and paperwork. A mouse, sleeve or external monitor are not usually included.

Our take on the HP 17 Business Laptop 17.3"

The HP 17 Business Laptop pairs an 8th-generation Intel Core i5-8250U with 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD in a 17.3-inch silver chassis running Windows 10 Pro. The large screen and heavy memory and storage make it a desk-bound work machine rather than a portable one. Its 1600x900 resolution is low for a screen this size, so text and images look less sharp than on a 1080p panel. The best new price is $2,149.99 at Newegg as of November 7, 2026, the only new listing, so there is no recent range to compare against.
