Is the HP 17 good for everyday use?

Yes. The 10-core i5-1335U, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD handle browsing, Office and streaming without strain. It is not suited to gaming or heavy video editing.

How long does the battery last?

HP claims up to 10 hours, but the 41Wh battery realistically gives closer to 5 to 7 hours at moderate brightness. Expect less with video or many tabs.

Is the 17.3-inch screen too big to carry?

It weighs 4.6 lbs and is 15.78 inches wide, so it fits a large backpack but is tiring to carry daily. It suits a desk or a laptop that mostly stays home.

Can I upgrade the RAM and storage?

HP lists support for up to 32GB DDR4 and up to 2TB of PCIe NVMe SSD, so both can be upgraded. Check the specific configuration's slot layout before buying parts.

Does it come with Windows 11 Pro?

This configuration ships with Windows 11 Pro. Other HP 17 versions come with Windows 11 Home, so confirm the edition on the listing.

Our take on the HP 17 Laptop

The HP 17 is a 17.3-inch desktop-replacement laptop with a 13th-gen Intel Core i5-1335U, 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a 1TB NVMe SSD, running Windows 11 Pro. Its draw is the big anti-glare 1080p screen and a full keyboard with number pad, which most 15-inch laptops lack. The 250-nit panel and 41Wh battery are modest, so it is a stay-at-home machine rather than a road laptop. The best new price is $799.99 at Amazon as of November 7, 2026, with 3 stores listing it new.
