At $199 it is a reasonable buy for basic browsing, email and schoolwork. If you need more than a few tabs or local storage, spend more on a model with 8 GB RAM.

Can I upgrade the RAM or storage?

No. The 4 GB of RAM is soldered and the 32 GB eMMC is not user-replaceable. Use cloud storage or a microSD card for extra files.

Does it run Windows apps?

No. It runs Chrome OS, so you use web apps and Android apps from the Play Store, not Windows software.

How long does the battery last?

HP rates it at 9 hours. Owners report close to that on light web use, less with video streaming.

What comes in the box?

The laptop and a charger. It does not include a mouse or sleeve.

It is already a budget model at $199. Watch for back-to-school and holiday sales, when Chromebooks like this often drop further.
