Is the HP OmniBook X 16 good for students?

Yes for general coursework: the 16-inch touchscreen, 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD cover writing, browsing, video calls and note-taking. It is heavy to carry and hold as a tablet, so check the weight if you commute daily.

Only light and older titles. The Core Ultra 7 256V uses integrated graphics, so modern games will run at low settings or not at all.

For browsing, Office, streaming and schoolwork, yes. Heavy video editing or many large apps at once will feel the limit, and RAM is not always upgradeable on thin convertibles.

Does it come with a pen?

HP typically sells its stylus separately on OmniBook convertibles. Confirm what is in the box with the retailer before buying if pen input matters to you.

Is $899 a good price?

With only one store listing it new at $899 as of November 7, 2026, there is no competing price to compare against. Watch for seasonal sales, since single-store listings rarely discount on their own.

What is the screen resolution?

1920x1200 on a 16-inch touchscreen. That is sharp enough for documents and video but less detailed than higher-resolution panels offered on some premium 16-inch laptops.
