Our take on the Hughes Furniture Palo Sofa Sectional

The Palo is a 79-inch-wide sectional sofa from Hughes Furniture, built on a hardwood and plywood frame with solid wood legs and 100% polyester upholstery. It measures 79 inches wide, 35 inches deep and 36 inches high, and assembles in under 15 minutes. A 4.2-out-of-5 rating from 39 shoppers suggests solid but not universal satisfaction. It is a compact sectional, so it fits smaller living rooms better than a full-size L-shaped couch.

Questions and answers

Is the Palo sectional good for a small apartment?
Yes. At 79 inches wide and 35 inches deep, it is one of the smaller sectionals you can buy and leaves walking room in a tight living area. Measure your doorway first, since the frame arrives in sections.
How long does assembly take?
Hughes lists assembly at under 15 minutes. The frame and legs are the main pieces to attach, so a screwdriver and a second person are enough.
What is the frame made of?
A hardwood and plywood frame with solid wood legs. That is a step up from particleboard frames common at this size and price.
Is the polyester fabric easy to clean?
Polyester resists stains and wipes down with a damp cloth, but blot spills rather than rubbing. It is not a performance fabric, so heavy use from pets or kids will show over time.
Does it come with toss pillows?
Yes, toss pillows are included, filled with 100% polyester. They are decorative and will need fluffing to keep their shape.
When is the best time to buy it?
Sofa prices usually dip around major holiday sales and during furniture clearance events. Check the price history on this page before buying to see whether the current price is near its low.
