Hybrid Racing's heavy-duty transmission detent springs replace the soft factory detent springs in Honda and Acura manual gearboxes to add preload and stiffness. The result is a firmer, more defined gear engagement and faster return-to-center, with the biggest change reported on Civic Sport and Si models. The kit includes left/right and front/back springs, zinc chromate plated. At $19.98 at Two Step Performance as of November 3, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range across the five stores that list it new.

Hybrid Racing Transmission Detent Springs - 2016+ Civic (Sport / Si / Type R) & Integra
Sharpen up your manual shifter with the Hybrid Racing Transmission Detent Springs. These heavy-duty springs replace the soft OEM detent springs in your transmission, adding preload and spring rate for crisper, more defined gear engagement. The detent spring is what gives a gear its "snick" into place, so stiffer springs mean quicker return-to-center and more tactile feedback every time you shift. It's a small internal part that makes a real difference in how the gearbox feels.
Tested Where It Counts
We tested these extensively in our own Civic Type R, under daily driving and track abuse, so they're proven to hold up and shift consistently rather than just feel good on a bench. In a Civic Type R you'll notice faster return-to-center and more pronounced gear engagement. On the Civic Sport and Si, the change is even bigger, because those cars came with softer detent springs from the factory, so there's more room to improve.
Spring Rate vs OEM
The gain depends on your car, since the factory springs differ between models:
Civic Type R (FK8, K20C): 18% stiffer front/back, 97% stiffer left/right
Civic Sport / Si (L15): 25% stiffer front/back, 124% stiffer left/right
That extra left/right rate is what makes finding your gate quicker and more positive, and the front/back increase firms up the engagement into each gear.
What You Get
• Both the left/right and front/back detent springs
• Heavy-duty springs that replace the soft OEM units
• A sharper, quicker-centering shift for street or track use
Recommended torque for the detent bolts is 16 lbf-ft (22 N-m / 2.2 kgf-m).
