Hybrid Racing K-Swap Clutch Master Cylinder Upgrade
If your K-swapped Civic or Integra grinds going into gear when you shift at high rpm, the clutch master cylinder is almost always the reason. The factory master cylinders Honda used in the newer cars aren't built well, and putting one in front of a K-series transmission exposes it. When you shift hard, it can't move fluid to the slave fast enough to fully release the clutch, so you're shifting into a disc that's still partially engaged. That's the grinding and rasping you hear, and your synchros are the ones paying for it. This kit swaps your clutch master cylinder and line over to an older, simpler, more direct system that moves fluid the way it should, and the grinding stops.
Why Your K-Swap Grinds At High RPM
The master cylinder's job is to push fluid to the slave fast enough to fully disengage the clutch every time you hit the pedal. Shifting at 5,000 rpm, that has to happen in a fraction of a second. A weak master cylinder can't keep up, so the disc is still dragging when you go for the next gear. The result is a grind, a rasp, and wear on the synchros. It isn't a broken transmission yet, but keep doing it and it becomes one. Moving to our EM1-style master cylinder gives you a direct, consistent clutch pedal and clean shifts even when you're driving the car hard.
What's In The Kit
• OE Genuine JDM clutch master cylinder
• Stainless steel braided clutch line
• Banjo fittings with washers
• Slave cylinder adapter
We use the OE Genuine JDM master cylinder because OEM Honda clutch hydraulics have proven to be the most reliable parts you can run, and after years of testing the alternatives, it's the unit we trust for this job. The braided line replaces the soft factory line that swells under pressure and robs you of pedal feel.
You'll Need A Slave Cylinder
This kit covers the master cylinder side of the system. It includes the slave adapter but not the slave cylinder itself, so you'll need a K-series slave to complete the release system. Our K-Swap Clutch Master & Slave Kit (HYB-CMC-01-13) is the complete release system if you'd rather get the slave in one shot. Match your slave to your setup before you order.
