Our take on the Hyper Tough 14 Inch 20V Brushless Cordless String Trimmer with 4.0Ah Battery

The Hyper Tough 14-inch 20V brushless string trimmer is a budget cordless weed trimmer sold at Walmart. It has a straight shaft, a 14-inch cutting width and weighs 5.1 lb, and it ships with a 4.0Ah 20V battery. The brushless motor is the main selling point at this price. At $118 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the top of its recent range, so waiting for a rollback is reasonable.

Pros
  • Brushless motor should last longer and run cooler than brushed
  • 4.0Ah battery included, so no separate battery purchase
  • Light at 5.1 lb for a straight-shaft trimmer
  • 14-inch cut is wider than many 20V trimmers
  • Shares the Hyper Tough 20V battery platform
Cons
  • Mixed owner reception, 3.3 out of 5 from 60 ratings
  • Straight shaft and light build suit light trimming, not heavy brush
  • Battery runtime on a 4.0Ah pack is limited for large lots
  • Fewer stores carry it, so price competition is thin
  • Replacement parts and service are limited compared with major brands

Questions and answers

Is the Hyper Tough 20V trimmer worth it at $118?
At $118 it is near the top of its recent price range. It makes sense if you want a light brushless trimmer with a battery included and already use Hyper Tough 20V tools. For heavy or large-yard work, a bigger brand is safer.
Does it come with a battery and charger?
The listing includes a 4.0Ah 20V battery. Check the box contents for a charger before buying, since bundle contents vary by listing.
How long does the 4.0Ah battery last?
Expect roughly 20 to 30 minutes of continuous trimming on a 4.0Ah pack, less in tall grass. That suits small lots; larger yards will want a spare battery.
Can I use other Hyper Tough 20V batteries in it?
Yes. It runs on the Hyper Tough 20V battery platform, so packs from other Hyper Tough 20V tools fit.
How does it compare with a gas trimmer?
It is much lighter and starts instantly with no fuel mixing. It has less power for thick brush and runs only as long as the battery lasts.
When is it cheapest?
Walmart rollbacks and end-of-season clearance in fall are the usual times this trimmer drops below its current $118. Watch the price history before buying.
Where is the Hyper Tough 14 Inch 20V Brushless Cordless String Trimmer with 4.0Ah Battery cheapest?
At Walmart, for $118.00, as of our latest check.
