Our take on the IKEA PAX Wardrobe with Doors

The PAX is IKEA's modular wardrobe system: a frame plus your choice of doors, interior organizers and handles. This version is white with mirrored doors, which adds a full-length mirror without taking wall space. The frame is particleboard with a foil or veneer finish, and the mirror doors are glass on a frame. Because it is modular, the price depends heavily on the frame size and door style you pick, so compare the exact combination before buying.

Small rooms where a mirror makes the space feel bigger
Pros
  • Mirrored doors save wall space and brighten the room
  • Modular interior: shelves, drawers and rails can be added or moved
  • Flat-packed and widely available, with spare parts sold separately
  • Doors are soft-closing on many hinge options
  • Can be built into a wall or used freestanding
Cons
  • Assembly is a two-person job and takes hours
  • Particleboard frames are heavy and sensitive to moisture
  • Mirror glass can chip or break if doors are handled roughly
  • Total cost climbs fast once you add interior organizers
  • Not designed to be moved often once assembled

Questions and answers

Is the PAX wardrobe worth it?
Yes if you want flexible storage and a mirror in one unit. The value depends on the frame and door combination you choose, so price out the full setup before committing.
How long does assembly take?
Plan on two to four hours for a standard frame with doors, and more if you add drawers and shelves. Two people make it much easier.
Does it need to be fixed to the wall?
Yes. IKEA requires tall PAX frames to be anchored to the wall with the included safety fittings. Do not skip this, especially in homes with children.
Can I change the interior later?
Yes. The PAX system uses standard widths and depths, so you can add or move shelves, drawers and rails after purchase.
What is included in the box?
The frame, doors, hinges and handles are usually sold as separate items, so check the listing for exactly what is bundled. Interior organizers are often extra.
When is it cheapest?
IKEA runs seasonal sales and family-member offers, and PAX frames and doors are sometimes discounted together. Compare the full combination rather than a single part.
