Our take on the Interior Define Skylar Custom 2-Seat Sofa Performance

The Interior Define Skylar is a custom-made, slipcovered two-seat sofa in performance velvet, 112 inches long with flared arms, flange-edge cushions and a higher back. The slipcover is removable and a spare is available, which matters for a light-colored velvet sofa in a busy room. At $1,673 as of October 30, it sits at the low end of its recent range; the high was $1,883 on October 31. Custom upholstery means a build and delivery lead time rather than a box that ships in days.

Best forHouseholds with kids or pets that want a washable, replaceable coverBuyers who want a made-to-order fabric and size, not a stock sofaLounging and long movie nights on a deep two-seaterModern rooms that can take a 112-inch footprint
Pros
  • Slipcovered build with an extra cover available, so wear and stains are fixable
  • Performance velvet is designed for everyday use rather than show-only rooms
  • Custom fabric and configuration options through Interior Define
  • Higher back and plush texture suit reclining and lounging
  • Flange-edge cushions and flared arms give a tailored modern look
Cons
  • 112 inches is long for a two-seater; measure the room and doorways first
  • Custom orders carry long lead times and are not quick to return
  • Performance velvet still needs care; it is not stain-proof
  • Price swings of about $210 in two days show it pays to watch the listing

Questions and answers

Is $1,673 a good price for the Skylar?
It is the lowest daily price in the recent window, $210 below the $1,883 high seen on October 31. Given the swing, waiting for a sale or asking for a quote is reasonable, but this is a strong entry point.
How does the Skylar compare with a stock slipcovered sofa?
You get custom fabric, length and cushion fill instead of fixed options, plus a spare cover you can order. The trade-off is a build lead time and a higher price than off-the-shelf sofas.
Will performance velvet hold up with pets?
Performance velvet resists everyday wear better than standard velvet, and the slipcover can be removed and replaced. It is not stain-proof, so wipe spills quickly and plan on a spare cover.
How big is the sofa?
It is 112 inches long, so it needs a large wall and a clear path through doorways. Measure the delivery route before ordering, since custom pieces are hard to return.
What comes with the sofa?
The sofa arrives with its slipcover fitted; the extra slipcover is a separate add-on. Confirm cushion fill and fabric choice at checkout, since both are custom options.
When is it cheapest?
Prices moved from $1,883 on October 31 to $1,673 on October 30, so discounts appear around sales events. Set a price alert rather than buying at the top of the range.
