Is the Roomba Combo j8 Enhanced worth it?

It is a solid pick if you mainly vacuum hard floors and want occasional mopping plus a self-emptying dock. If you need deep scrubbing or a mop that lifts over carpet automatically, a combo with a self-washing mop is a better fit.

How does the mopping work?

You swap the standard bin for the Roomba Combo Bin, which carries a washable microfiber pad. It mops up to about 500 square feet per fill, so larger homes need a second pad or a mid-run change.

How long does the battery last?

iRobot rates the j8 for roughly 90 minutes of runtime, depending on floor type and suction setting. Smart Recharge and Resume sends it back to the dock and finishes the job after charging.

How often do I have to empty it?

The Clean Base holds dirt and debris for up to 60 days, depending on use and pet hair volume. You still need to empty the washable vacuum bin when using the Combo Bin for mopping.

Does it work with Alexa and Google Assistant?

Yes. It supports voice commands through Alexa and Google Assistant, and you can start, stop and send it to specific rooms from the iRobot Home app.

The only recorded price is $249.99 at Woot as of October 28, 2026. Roomba prices typically drop during Black Friday and Prime Day events, so watch those windows for a lower price.
