If you need per-channel EQ, crossovers and time alignment without adding a separate DSP, yes. A plain amp plus a standalone DSP usually costs similar or more and takes more space.

How much power does it make?

100 W x 8 at 2 ohms, 75 W x 8 at 4 ohms, and 200 W x 4 bridged at 4 ohms, all at 14.4 V.

Do I need a computer to set it up?

Yes for full tuning. You use a Windows PC with JL Audio's TüN software over USB. The DRC-205 handles volume and preset recall afterward.

What comes in the box?

The VX800/8i amplifier, DRC-205 remote, power connector for 2 AWG wire, analog input/pre-out harness, two speaker output harnesses and a 6 ft USB cable.

What fuse and wire does it need?

An 80 A fuse (AFS, AGU or MaxiFuse) and 2 AWG power wire, per the power connector included.

Yes. Bridge channels into 200 W x 4 for subs, or assign channels to sub, mid and tweeter duties with the DSP crossovers.

The JL Audio VX800/8i is an 8-channel Class D car amplifier with a built-in 24-bit/96 kHz DSP. It makes 100 W per channel at 2 ohms and 75 W at 4 ohms, or 200 W x 4 bridged, from a compact cast-alloy chassis just 2.12 in tall. Every output channel gets its own 10-band parametric EQ and tuning through JL's TüN software. This bundle adds the DRC-205 dash remote for volume and preset switching.
