Our take on the John Deere Z345M 42 in. 22 HP Gas Dual Hydrostatic Zero-Turn Riding Mower Bagger Included

The John Deere Z345M is a residential zero-turn riding mower with a 42-inch Accel Deep stamped steel deck and a 22 HP V-twin John Deere engine. Dual EZT hydrostatic transmissions and 18-inch drive tires allow mowing speeds up to 7 mph, and the foot platform flips up for deck access. It suits small-to-medium yards where maneuverability around obstacles matters more than wide coverage. The listing title mentions a bagger, but the bagger (BG20755) is sold separately.

Questions and answers

Does the Z345M come with a bagger?
No. The bagger is the BG20755 and is sold separately, even though some listings name it in the title. Budget for it if you want to collect clippings.
How big a yard is the Z345M suited for?
John Deere rates it for small-to-medium residential properties. With a 42-inch deck and 7 mph top speed it handles roughly half an acre to two acres comfortably.
What is the cutting height range?
The deck adjusts from 1 to 4 inches. That covers normal lawn maintenance but is narrower than mowers that go down to half an inch or up to 4.5 inches.
Is the Z345M worth it over a lawn tractor?
If your yard has many trees, beds or tight turns, the zero-turn steering saves real time. On a large open lawn with few obstacles, a lawn tractor costs less for similar cut width.
What engine does it use?
A 22 HP, 724 cc V-twin John Deere branded engine with the ReadyStart system, so there is no choke to operate. It starts with a key.
When is the best time to buy?
Zero-turn prices usually soften in late summer and fall as dealers clear seasonal inventory. Check the price history before buying in spring.
