Our take on the Toro TimeCutter 42-in 22-HP V-twin Gas Zero-turn riding lawn mower

The Toro TimeCutter is a 42-inch gas zero-turn riding mower aimed at homeowners with up to about 2 acres. It pairs a 22-HP Briggs & Stratton V-twin with dual HG-ZT2100 hydrostatic transmissions, Smart Speed control and electric start. Questions and answers

Is the Toro TimeCutter 42-in worth it?
For a lawn near 1 to 2 acres with obstacles, the zero-turn steering and 42-inch deck save real time over a lawn tractor. At $5,189.99 at Zoro as of November 4, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so compare it against other 42-inch zero-turns before committing.
Does it bag or mulch?
Side discharge is standard and bagging is supported. Mulching needs a separate kit, so budget for that if you want fine clippings.
How fast is it?
Smart Speed lets you set a top ground speed, so you can mow slowly for a cleaner cut or faster on open lawn. The zero-turn radius lets you pivot around obstacles.
What engine does it use?
A 22-HP Briggs & Stratton V-twin with 500 cc displacement, air cooled, with electric start. It runs on gasoline and needs regular oil and filter service.
Will it fit through my gate?
The deck is 42 inches wide, so it fits through gates wider than that. The machine weighs 660 lbs, so check your ramp and trailer capacity.
When is it cheapest?
Zero-turn mowers usually discount in late fall and winter, after mowing season. No price history is available for this listing yet, so set a price alert.
Where is the Toro TimeCutter 42-in 22-HP V-twin Gas Zero-turn riding lawn mower cheapest?
