Which pianos does the HM-5 fit?

It is made for the Kawai ES520 and ES920 only. Other Kawai models and other brands will not mount to it.

Does the stand include the piano?

No. The ES520 or ES920 is sold separately. The stand ships with the frame parts and four thumbscrews.

How hard is assembly?

It arrives flat and needs assembly. The piano then attaches with four thumbscrews, which you can loosen by hand to remove it.

Can I fold it for transport?

No. The HM-5 is a fixed frame and does not fold. It is meant to stay in place while the piano comes off for gigs.

Is $145 a good price?

It is the lowest of the three new listings as of November 5, 2026, and sits at the bottom of its recent range. Waiting is unlikely to save much.

Does it add pedals or a bench?

No. The HM-5 is a stand only. A pedal unit and bench are separate purchases.

Our take on the Kawai HM-5 Designer Stand

The HM-5 is Kawai's dedicated furniture stand for the ES520 and ES920 portable digital pianos, built from wood and metal to make either piano look like a compact home instrument instead of a keyboard on an X-stand. Four thumbscrews lock the piano to the platform and let you lift it off again for gigs. It is 1325 mm wide, 355 mm deep and 665 mm tall, weighs about 17.6 lbs and ships unassembled. At $145 at musicstore.com as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range across the three stores that list it.
