Is the RP-600M II worth it over the original RP-600M?

The II version refines the crossover and horn for smoother treble and slightly better integration. If you already own the original, the upgrade is modest; first-time buyers get the better speaker.

What amplifier power do I need?

Klipsch rates it at 100 W continuous with 89 dB sensitivity, so a 20-50 W per channel amp is plenty for most rooms. More power adds headroom for loud peaks.

Does it need a subwoofer?

Its 44 Hz low end covers most music, but a subwoofer helps for home theater and bass-heavy tracks. The rear port means you should keep it at least a foot from the wall.

Can I use it for home theater surrounds?

Yes. The 8-ohm load and high sensitivity make it easy to match with most AV receivers, and it works as a front or surround speaker.

The box contains one speaker with its detachable grille. Speaker wire and stands are not included, and each speaker is sold separately.

At $449.99 at Abt Electronics & Appliances as of November 4, 2026, it is near the bottom of its recent range. Klipsch bookshelf speakers often drop during holiday sales, so watch for further cuts.

Our take on the Klipsch RP-600M II

The RP-600M II is Klipsch's second-generation Reference Premiere bookshelf speaker. It pairs a 6.5-inch woofer with a 1-inch titanium tweeter in a Tractrix horn, and its 89 dB sensitivity means modest amps can drive it. The rear-firing Tractrix port needs some space from the wall. At $449.99 at Abt Electronics & Appliances as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, with 10 stores pricing it new.
