Our take on the Kluft Crown Latex Opal Extra Firm Full Mattress Set with 9" Box Spring

The Kluft Crown Latex Opal is a 13-inch latex mattress sold as a set with a 9-inch box spring, built for people who want an extra-firm, low-sink sleep surface. Latex sleeps cooler than memory foam and holds its shape well, which suits heavier sleepers and back or stomach sleepers. The set comes in Twin XL through California King, including a Full at 75 by 53 inches. No current price was provided for this page, so compare the set price against other latex sets before buying.

Pros
  • Extra-firm latex resists deep sink and holds its shape
  • Latex sleeps cooler and bounces back faster than memory foam
  • 13-inch height gives a substantial, hotel-style profile
  • Sold as a set with a 9-inch box spring, so no separate foundation to buy
  • Available in five sizes, including California King
Cons
  • Extra firm is too hard for most side sleepers
  • Latex is heavy, so rotating or moving it takes two people
  • The included box spring adds height and cost you may not need
  • No current price listed here, so value is hard to judge
  • Latex can feel bouncy to people used to memory foam

Questions and answers

Is the Kluft Crown Latex Opal good for side sleepers?
Usually not. It is an extra-firm latex mattress, and side sleepers often need more give at the shoulder and hip. Back and stomach sleepers are the better fit.
Do I need the box spring that comes with it?
The set includes a 9-inch box spring, which raises the mattress and supports it on a standard frame. If you already have a platform bed or adjustable base, you may be paying for a foundation you won't use.
How does latex compare with memory foam here?
Latex is bouncier, sleeps cooler and recovers faster, while memory foam contours and sinks more. At this firmness, latex gives a flatter, more supportive feel.
What sizes does the set come in?
Twin XL, Full, Queen, King and California King. The Full measures 75 by 53 inches and the California King 84 by 72 inches, all 13 inches tall before the box spring.
When is the best time to buy it?
Mattress sets usually drop during holiday sales and Presidents' Day or Labor Day events. Check the price history on this page to see whether the current price is near its low.
