Our take on the km Home Merit Desmona Area Rug

The km Home Merit Desmona is a 7'10" x 9'10" indoor area rug in polypropylene with an abstract pattern and a 0.43-inch pile. It is built for high-traffic rooms: soft underfoot, easy to vacuum, and priced well below wool rugs of the same size. Its lowest recent price was $191.03 on October 31, 2026, against a high of $400.47 on October 30, 2026, so the spread is wide and worth watching before you buy.

Best forLiving rooms and family rooms that need a large, low-maintenance rugDining rooms and entryways with heavy foot trafficHouseholds with kids or pets who want an easy-clean synthetic rugBuyers who want a colorful abstract look without a wool price
Pros
  • Large 7'10" x 9'10" size covers most living and dining room footprints
  • Polypropylene resists stains and cleans up with regular vacuuming
  • 0.43-inch pile is soft underfoot but low enough for chairs and doors
  • Abstract pattern with yellow, green and orange accents adds color without a busy look
  • Wide price range means patience can pay off: $191.03 versus $400.47 recently
Cons
  • Polypropylene is synthetic and will not match the feel or longevity of wool
  • Spot cleaning is limited; the maker recommends professional cleaning
  • Abstract multicolor pattern will not suit neutral or formal rooms
  • No rug pad included, so add one for grip and cushioning

Questions and answers

Is the Desmona rug worth it?
At the recent low of $191.03 it is a fair price for a 7'10" x 9'10" polypropylene rug. Near the $400.47 high it is harder to justify against similar synthetic rugs.
How does it compare with a wool rug?
Polypropylene costs less and resists stains better, but wool feels denser and lasts longer. Choose this rug for budget and easy care, wool for longevity.
Can it go under a dining table?
Yes. The 0.43-inch pile is low enough for chair legs to slide, and the 7'10" x 9'10" size fits most six-seat dining sets.
What is in the box?
The area rug only. A rug pad is not included, and one is worth adding on hard floors.
How do I clean it?
Vacuum regularly and have it professionally cleaned for deeper soil. Spot-treat spills quickly, since the maker does not list machine washing.
When is it cheapest?
Its lowest recent price was $191.03 on October 31, 2026, roughly half the $400.47 seen a day earlier. Prices swing widely, so check the price history before buying.
Is the km Home Merit Desmona Area Rug at its lowest price?
The lowest price we've seen is $191.03 at Macy's on October 31.
