Is the Kwikset Tylo good enough for a front door?

It locks the door, but Grade 3 is the lowest residential grade. Pair it with a Grade 2 or better deadbolt on an exterior door.

Can I key it to match my other Kwikset locks?

Yes. Kwikset keyed entry knobs can be rekeyed to a shared key, either by a locksmith or with a Kwikset rekey kit.

Will it fit a door that already has a knob?

It uses standard door prep with a 2-1/8 inch cross bore and 1-inch edge bore. Check your backset, which is usually 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inches.

Does the knob work on left- and right-swing doors?

Yes. The handing is reversible, so it fits either swing without a separate left- or right-hand version.

What comes in the box?

The knob set, latch, RCS strike plate and mounting screws. A key is included.

Is $17.95 a good price?

It is a low price for a keyed entry knob, and only one store lists it new as of November 4, 2026. There is little price history to compare, so check the seller's return policy before buying.

The Kwikset Tylo is a basic keyed entry knob for a front or back door, sold with the RCS strike plate in satin nickel. It is Grade 3 hardware, the lowest residential security grade, and the knob is reversible so it fits either swing.
