Our take on the La Sportiva Bushido II Trail-Running Shoes

The Bushido II is La Sportiva's rugged-trail shoe for technical ground: a firm, minimal platform with a rock plate, a 6 mm drop and a sticky FriXion outsole. At 1 lb. 5 oz. per pair it is light for how much protection it offers. The best new price is $98.73 at REI as of November 4, 2026, well under the shoe's usual $140–$155 range, so this is a strong moment to buy.

Questions and answers

Is the Bushido II good for beginners?
It suits runners who already handle technical terrain. Beginners on smooth paths will find the firm, minimal ride harsh and better served by a cushioned shoe.
How does it compare to the original Bushido?
The II keeps the same low, protective platform and grippy outsole but updates the upper for a more secure fit. The ride stays firm and precise.
Is $98.73 a good price?
Yes. The Bushido II usually sells around $140–$155, so $98.73 at REI as of November 4, 2026 is a clear discount.
How does the sizing run?
It runs narrow and low-volume. Runners with wide feet should size up or look elsewhere; most others can take their usual trail-shoe size.
Does it have a rock plate?
Yes. A full-length rock plate sits under the foot, which is why the shoe protects well on sharp ground despite its minimal cushioning.
What is the drop and stack height?
It has a 6 mm drop, with a 19 mm heel and 13 mm forefoot stack. That is a low, ground-feel-oriented setup.
Where is the La Sportiva Bushido II Trail-Running Shoes cheapest?
At REI, for $98.73, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the La Sportiva Bushido II Trail-Running Shoes?
Rated 4.5 out of 5 from 415 ratings.
