Our take on the Lanney Metal Tip Steel Tip Darts Set

The Lanney Metal Tip Steel Tip Darts Set is a brass-bodied steel-tip dart set at 20 grams per dart, aimed at casual players and soft-tip converts moving to a bristle board. Brass is the entry-level barrel material, so expect a thicker barrel and less grip texture than tungsten darts at the same weight. It holds 4.5 out of 5 from 43 ratings, a small but positive sample. No current price or price history was provided, so check the live comparison before buying.

Questions and answers

Is this set worth it for a beginner?
Yes, if you want a cheap way onto a bristle board. Brass at 20 g is fine for learning stance and release. Upgrade to tungsten once your grouping tightens.
Brass or tungsten?
Brass is cheaper but thicker at the same weight, so darts bunch up in the treble 20. Tungsten barrels are slimmer and hold their grip longer, at a higher price.
What weight are these darts?
20 grams per dart. That sits in the middle range and suits most adult throwers; lighter 18 g suits some soft-tip players, heavier 22 to 24 g suits others.
Will these work on my dartboard?
They are steel tip, so they suit sisal bristle boards. Do not throw them at electronic soft-tip boards, which need plastic tips.
What is in the box?
A set of steel-tip darts with shafts and flights. Check the listing for the exact dart count and whether a case is included.
When is it cheapest?
Dart sets usually dip during holiday sales and back-to-school promotions. Compare the current price against its recent range before buying.
