Questions and answers

Is the Grande worth it over a smaller Lava lamp?
If you want a floor-level statement piece, yes. The 27-inch Grande is Lava's largest model, so it reads much bigger than the 14- and 16-inch versions. Smaller lamps cost less and fit on shelves.
What is in the box?
The lamp and a 100-watt reflector light bulb. You supply nothing else beyond a standard 120-volt outlet.
How long does it take to start flowing?
Expect roughly an hour or more for the wax to soften and begin moving after you switch it on. Cool rooms slow this down.
Does it need a special bulb?
It uses a 100-watt reflector bulb, and one is included. Replace it with the same type and wattage to keep the wax flowing properly.
Where should I put it?
On a stable surface away from drafts and direct sun, in a living area, bedroom or dorm room. Keep it out of reach of small children and pets because the glass gets warm.
When is it cheapest?
The $114.99 at Surprise Castle as of November 3, 2026 is already near the low end for this size. Watch for holiday sales, when lava lamps often drop.
Where is the Lava the Original 27 Inch Silver Base Grande Lamp with Pink Wax in Purple Liquid cheapest?
At Surprise Castle, for $114.99, 23% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
