Is the LG NU87 worth it over a cheaper 85-inch TV?

The NU87's advantages are the α8 Gen3 processor, Dolby Atmos audio and LG's webOS app platform, which is more polished than most budget brands. If you mainly watch dark movies, an OLED or a mini-LED set will look better for similar money.

How does it compare with LG's OLED evo models?

OLED gives true blacks and better off-angle viewing, but 83-inch OLEDs cost far more. The NU87 wins on price per inch and brightness for daytime rooms; OLED wins on contrast and motion.

Does it support 4K at 120Hz for gaming?

The NU87 line is a mainstream NanoCell set, not a high-refresh gaming model. Check the HDMI inputs on the exact unit before buying if you need 4K/120Hz from a console or PC.

What comes in the box?

The TV, the AI Magic Remote and a 3-Year Allstate Protection Plan, which stacks with LG's standard warranty for 5 years of total coverage.

Will an 85-inch TV fit my room?

Plan for a viewing distance of roughly 8 to 12 feet and check wall width and stud placement first. The set is heavy enough that mounting usually needs two people and a rated bracket.

Large TVs like this tend to drop around Black Friday, the Super Bowl and model-year clearance in spring. Track the price history before buying.

What reviewers say

Owners of LG's NanoCell 4K sets generally praise the bright, colorful picture and the easy webOS interface, and the Magic Remote gets frequent mention. Criticism centers on black levels and contrast compared with OLED, and on how much space an 85-inch set takes up.

Pros

Bright, saturated color on sports and streaming content
Simple webOS menus and app selection
Magic Remote pointer and voice search
Strong value per inch at this screen size

Cons

Grayish blacks and visible blooming in dark scenes
Picture quality drops when viewed from the side
Heavy, awkward to mount without help
Built-in sound is adequate but not a substitute for a soundbar
