Is the Crayola Light-Up Tracing Pad worth it?

For a screen-free craft toy under $20, yes. It is simple and works well for kids around 6 to 10, as long as you keep AA batteries on hand.

What batteries does it need?

Three AA batteries, which are not included. There is no AC adapter option, so budget for rechargeables if it gets daily use.

Crayola rates it for ages 6 and up. Younger kids can use it with supervision.

What comes in the box?

The tracing pad and tracing content to start with. More images can be downloaded from Crayola online.

What size paper does it take?

The surface is about 10.5 by 13.81 inches, so standard letter and smaller sheets fit. Larger paper will overhang.

It is already near the low end of its recent range at $11.99. Craft-season sales are the likeliest time for a further dip.

Our take on the Light-Up Tracing Pad

The Crayola Light-Up Tracing Pad is a kid-sized LED light table for tracing and coloring. It has a thin blue frame that locks paper in place so sheets stay put while kids trace, and it runs on three AA batteries. At $11.99 at Amazon as of November 7, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent price range, with only two stores listing it new.
