Pros
  • Six strings, so chords and songs transfer directly to a full-size guitar later
  • Short scale and light body suit smaller hands and arms
  • Electric format lets beginners play quietly with headphones through an amp or interface
  • Comes in three colors and is sold as classroom-ready
  • Loog's small-guitar approach is well known among parents and teachers
Cons
  • At $199 it costs more than many full-size beginner electrics

Questions and answers

Is the Loog Pro 6 good for a beginner?
Yes. Its short scale and light body make it easier for kids and new players to hold and fret than a full-size electric. It has six strings, so what they learn carries over to a standard guitar.
What age is the Loog Pro 6 for?
It is aimed at kids roughly 8 and up and smaller beginners. Teens and adults will likely find the body and scale too small.
Do I need an amp with it?
Yes. It is an electric guitar, so you need an amp, or a headphone amp or audio interface for quiet practice. No amp is included.
How is it different from a full-size electric guitar?
It is smaller and lighter, with a shorter scale that suits small hands. It has fewer controls and a simpler setup than most full-size beginner electrics.
