Our take on the LumaBase Moving Flame

The LumaBase Moving Flame is a single red flameless pillar candle, 7 inches tall and 3.5 inches wide, with a 3D flame that moves to mimic a real wick. A built-in timer runs it 5 hours on and 19 hours off, and it takes 2 D batteries (not included). The plastic body resists dents and warping that wax candles suffer. Its best new price is $22.09 at The Home Depot as of November 7, 2026, with 4 stores listing it new.

Pros

Moving 3D flame reads more natural than a static LED bulb
5-on/19-off timer means no daily switching
Plastic shell won't warp, dent or melt like wax
Red pillar finish suits holiday and winter displays
Warm amber glow rather than a cold white LED

Cons

Runs on 2 D batteries, which cost extra and add weight
One candle per set, so a grouping means buying several
Plastic body looks less premium than real wax up close
No remote or adjustable brightness mentioned
