Our take on the Lumintop LEP Flashlight Thor Mini 700 Meter Ultra-Long Range Titanium

The Lumintop Thor Mini is a tiny LEP (laser-excited phosphor) flashlight built for throw, not flood. Its white laser beam reaches a rated 700 meters from a body that weighs 60 g and measures about 3.1 inches long. Output is modest at 50 to roughly 400 lumens, so it lights a narrow spot far away rather than a wide area. It runs on a 1200 mAh 14500-size cell (not included) and charges over USB-C.

Questions and answers

Is the Lumintop Thor Mini worth it?
If you want the longest throw from a pocket-sized light, yes. If you need a general-purpose beam for walking or working up close, a reflector LED light is more useful.
What battery does the Thor Mini use?
It takes a 1200 mAh 14500-size lithium-ion cell at 3.7V, and it is not included. Buy a protected or high-drain 14500 rated for the light's current draw.
How far can it really throw?
Lumintop rates it at 700 meters, which is a beam-distance figure, not a usable-see-in-the-dark range. Expect a tight spot that is clearly visible several hundred meters out on a dark night.
How does it compare with a regular LED flashlight?
An LEP light puts nearly all its output into a pencil-thin beam, so it throws far with low lumens. A standard LED light spreads light wider and is better for nearby tasks.
Does it come with a charger or cable?
It charges through a USB-C port on the body, but plan on supplying your own USB-C cable. The battery is sold separately.
When is the Thor Mini cheapest?
LEP lights usually dip during holiday sales and flashlight-brand promotions. Check the price history on this page before buying.
