Our take on the Macy's Solid 10K Yellow Gold Rope Chain Necklace

A 20-inch rope chain in solid 10K yellow gold, 3mm thick, closed with a lobster clasp. Rope links twist tightly, so the chain reads brighter and more textured than a plain cable chain of the same weight. It is a single-store item: the best new price is $4,399 at Macy's as of November 5, 2026, and no other store lists it new, so there is no cross-store spread to shop.

Best forMen wanting a substantial everyday gold chainBuyers who prefer solid 10K gold over plated or filledGift for a milestone or anniversaryWearing alone or with a small pendant
Pros
  • Solid 10K yellow gold, not plated or hollow
  • 3mm rope has visible presence without being heavy
  • Rope construction resists kinking better than flat chains
  • 20-inch length sits at the collarbone on most men
  • Lobster clasp is sturdier than a spring ring
Cons
  • $4,399 is a large outlay for a single chain
  • Only one store sells it new, so no price competition
  • 10K gold is 41.7% gold, less yellow than 14K or 18K
  • Rope links can snag hair and knitwear
  • No chain-weight figure given, so value per gram is hard to judge

Questions and answers

Is 10K gold real gold?
Yes. 10K means 41.7% gold mixed with alloys, the minimum that can be sold as gold in the US. It is more durable and less yellow than 14K, and it will not flake or wear off like plating.
Is $4,399 a good price for this chain?
It is the only new price listed, $4,399 at Macy's as of November 5, 2026, so there is nothing to compare it against. Judge it by weight: ask for the gram weight and divide the price by it, then compare that per-gram figure with other 10K rope chains.
Will a 3mm rope chain hold a pendant?
Yes, a 3mm rope is sturdy enough for most pendants up to a few grams. Use a bail wide enough to slide over the links, and check the lobster clasp is rated for the added weight.
How does 10K compare with 14K for a chain like this?
14K is 58.3% gold, so it looks richer yellow and costs more per gram. 10K is harder and better for daily wear, but it can look paler next to higher-karat jewelry.
What is in the box?
The necklace itself. Macy's typically ships fine jewelry in a gift box with a pouch, but confirm packaging and any certificate of authenticity at checkout.
When is it cheapest?
Macy's runs frequent fine-jewelry sales and coupon events, and gold prices move with the market. Watch the price history here rather than buying at full list.
Where is the Macy's Solid 10K Yellow Gold Rope Chain Necklace cheapest?
At Macy's, for $4,399.00, as of our latest check.
