Is it big enough for a phone and wallet?

Yes. It is a mini satchel, so a phone, cardholder, keys and a small pouch fit. A full-size wallet or water bottle will not.

It is listed as both a satchel and a crossbody, so it carries by the top handle or on a strap. Check the listing photos for the strap before ordering.

How does straw hold up in rain or at the beach?

Straw is not water-resistant. Keep it out of rain and off wet sand, and store it dry and stuffed so the shape holds.

When is the best time to buy a straw bag like this?
