Questions and answers

Is the Magefesa Star worth it?

Does it work on an induction cooktop?
Yes. The stainless steel base is induction ready, and it also works on gas, electric coil and ceramic hobs.
How big is 12.7 quarts in practice?
It holds roughly double a standard 6-quart cooker — enough for stock for a crowd, large batches of beans, or several jars for canning. Check your burner size and cabinet space first.
Is it hard to use compared with an electric pressure cooker?
It is a stovetop cooker, so you control the heat and timing yourself. There are no presets or keep-warm, but there is also no electronics to break.
When is the best time to buy?
The current $108.87 at WoodArtSupply is already near the low end of its recent range. Watch for holiday kitchen sales, when stovetop cookers often drop further.
