How should I drink Mari Mayans Hierbas Ibicencas?

Serve it neat or over ice after a meal, as the Spanish do. It also works chilled as a shot or mixed with soda or tonic.

It is on the sweeter side, as herbal liqueurs go, but the herb and anise notes keep it from tasting like syrup. Expect a balanced sweet-bitter finish.

How does it compare to other hierbas brands?

Mari Mayans is one of the best-known Ibiza producers, and drinkers often describe it as smoother and less harsh than cheaper hierbas. It is a safe first pick if you are new to the category.

What is the alcohol content?

26% ABV, which is moderate for a herbal liqueur and lower than many German or French herbal bitters.

How long does an open bottle keep?

A 26% ABV liqueur keeps well for years once opened. Store it upright, away from heat and direct light.

Is the 1-liter bottle worth it over a smaller one?

If you drink hierbas regularly, yes: the larger bottle lowers the cost per pour. If you are trying it for the first time, a smaller bottle is the safer test.
