Is the MechMaxx MEC06 worth it for a homeowner?

If you have repeated digging work and a way to tow 1,345 lb, it can pay for itself against rentals. For one small project, renting is usually cheaper.

Max digging depth is 43.3 inches, with 1,911 lbf of bucket digging force. That suits trenches, footings and small stumps, not deep utility work.

What comes in the box?

The machine ships with five attachments. Confirm the exact attachment list with the seller before ordering, since bundles vary.

Can it fit through a gate?

Yes. At 28 inches wide it passes standard 36-inch gates with room to spare.

Does it need a special license or trailer?

No license is needed to operate it on private property. You will need a trailer rated for at least 1,345 lb plus the machine's footprint.

Our take on the MechMaxx MEC06 Mini Compact Excavator

The MechMaxx MEC06 is a 1,345 lb mini excavator built for tight yards, gardens and small jobsites. A 9 hp Loncin gas engine, 28-inch width and 43.3-inch max digging depth let it fit through gates and dig where full-size machines can't go. It ships with five attachments and a 360-degree rotating design. At $4,399 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent price range, with only two stores listing it new.
