Our take on the Metal Twin Sofa Bed with Floral Iron Pattern

This is a white metal twin sofa bed with a floral iron pattern on the frame, and it folds out into a twin-size sleeper. The 80-inch length gives it more room than a standard twin mattress, so it suits taller sleepers and small guest rooms. It is a budget furniture piece, so expect a basic mattress and a frame that is more decorative than heavy-duty. Its price sits in the low end of the metal sofa bed range, and it is usually cheapest outside holiday weekends.

Questions and answers

Is this good for sleeping every night?
No. The mattress is thin and the metal frame is built for occasional use. For nightly sleeping, buy a separate twin mattress and a sturdier bed frame.
How does it compare with a futon?
It is lighter and cheaper than most futons and folds out flat rather than reclining. A futon has a thicker mattress and holds up better to daily sitting.
What size mattress does it take?
It takes a twin mattress, and the 80-inch length means a standard 75-inch twin leaves a small gap at the foot. Check the exact mattress dimensions before buying a replacement.
Is it hard to assemble?
Assembly is basic: bolt the frame together and attach the legs. Two people make it easier, and most owners finish in under an hour.
When is it cheapest?
Metal sofa beds like this usually drop in price during back-to-school and end-of-season furniture sales. Watch the price history rather than buying at full price.
