Our take on the Metaltech Telescoping Multi-Position Ladder 21 E-MTL7200AL

The Metaltech E-MTL7200AL is an aluminum telescoping multi-position ladder that extends to 21 ft and carries up to 300 lb. It folds down for storage and can be set in several configurations, so one ladder covers jobs a step ladder and an extension ladder would otherwise handle. At $335.83 at Diamond Tool Store as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent price range across the five stores that list it new.

Best forHomeowners who need one ladder for gutters, ceilings and attic accessTradespeople working alone who want a ladder that stores smallGarage or van storage where a full-size extension ladder won't fitReaching 20 ft ceilings and rooflines without renting equipment
Pros
  • Reaches 21 ft yet collapses to a compact bundle for storage
  • 300 lb load capacity is above the 250 lb typical of many consumer ladders
  • Aluminum frame keeps it light enough for one person to move
  • Multiple positions cover step, extension and stair use
  • Fits in a car trunk or closet between jobs
Cons
  • Telescoping sections add weight and flex compared with a rigid extension ladder
  • Collapsing sections can pinch fingers if you rush the release
  • More joints and locks mean more parts to check before each climb
  • Setup takes longer than unfolding a standard step ladder

Questions and answers

Is the Metaltech E-MTL7200AL worth it at $335.83?
At $335.83 at Diamond Tool Store as of November 5, 2026, it is priced at the low end of its recent range. If you need 21 ft of reach and have no room for a full extension ladder, it is a reasonable buy. If you only work at low heights, a simpler step ladder costs less.
How tall is it when folded?
The ladder collapses into a bundle roughly the length of its longest section, short enough to fit in a car trunk or closet. Exact folded length is not stated in the specs, so measure your storage space against the collapsed size before buying.
Does it hold 300 lb?
Yes, Metaltech rates it at 300 lb, which covers most users plus tools. That is higher than the 250 lb rating common on consumer step ladders.
Can one person set it up?
Yes. The aluminum frame is light enough for one person to carry and raise, though the telescoping sections need to be extended and locked one at a time. Check every lock before climbing.

It is $335.83 at Diamond Tool Store as of November 5, 2026, the lowest of the five stores listing it new. Ladder prices move with seasonal sales, so compare the current store prices before buying.
