Our take on the Microsoft Surface Slim Pen 2

The Surface Slim Pen 2 is Microsoft's flat, rechargeable stylus for Surface tablets and laptops, with 4,096 pressure levels, tilt support, palm rejection and a replaceable POM nib. It charges and stores in the Surface Pro Signature Keyboard or a separate charger, and its 15-hour battery covers several days of note-taking. At $42.99 on eBay as of November 8, 2026, it sits well below its usual new price of roughly $90 to $130, so this is a strong deal if you can confirm the seller is reputable.

Best forSurface Pro 8, Pro 9 and later ownersStudents taking handwritten notesArtists sketching on Surface tabletsPeople who want a pen that stores in the keyboard
Pros
  • Flat shape sits flush in the Surface Pro Signature Keyboard and charges there
  • Low latency and 4,096 pressure levels feel close to pen on paper
  • Tilt support and palm rejection work well for sketching and notes
  • Replaceable POM nib extends the pen's life
  • Light at 13 g and slim at 0.44 inch wide
  • Pairs over Bluetooth and works with Windows 11 handwriting tools
Cons
  • No charger or keyboard in the box, so charging needs a compatible accessory
  • 15-hour battery is shorter than some rivals
  • Older Surface models lack the haptic feedback the pen was built for
  • 3.2 out of 5 average rating suggests a share of buyers hit pairing or tip problems

Questions and answers

Does the Surface Slim Pen 2 come with a charger?
No. The box holds the pen, one POM nib and paperwork. It charges in the Surface Pro Signature Keyboard or a separate Slim Pen charger, sold separately.
Which Surface devices support the haptic feedback?
Haptic feedback works on Surface Pro 8, Surface Pro 9, Surface Laptop Studio and later devices with the right firmware. Older Surface models use the pen without haptics.
Is $42.99 a good price?
Yes. New units usually run about $90 to $130, so $42.99 at eBay as of November 8, 2026 is well below the typical range. Check that the listing is new and sealed.
Can I replace the nib?
Yes. The POM nib pulls out and a replacement fits in, so a worn tip does not mean a new pen.
Does it work with non-Surface Windows laptops?
Only if the laptop supports the same pen protocol, which most non-Surface laptops do not. Treat it as a Surface-only accessory.
How long does the battery last?
Microsoft rates it at up to 15 hours of use. Charging in the Signature Keyboard tops it up between sessions.
