Is the digital edition worth it over the disc model?

Only if you never buy or trade physical discs. The hardware is otherwise identical, and you give up the option of cheap used games and Blu-ray playback.

Is $673.95 a good price?

No. That is well above the console's normal selling price, so wait for a drop unless you need it immediately.

How much storage does it have?

1TB of custom NVMe SSD. Expect roughly 800GB usable after system files, which holds only a handful of large AAA games.

Does it play disc games?

No. This model is all-digital and cannot read discs, so Xbox One and Xbox 360 discs will not work.

The 1TB console, one Xbox Wireless Controller, a high-speed HDMI cable, a power cable and two AA batteries.

Can I expand the storage?

Yes, with a Seagate or Western Digital expansion card that slots into the back, sold separately.

Our take on the Microsoft Xbox Series X Console 1TB Digital Edition

The Xbox Series X 1TB Digital Edition is Microsoft's disc-free version of its flagship console, with the same 12-teraflop GPU, 4K/120 fps output and 1TB custom NVMe SSD as the disc model. It ships in white with one wireless controller. The trade-off is no disc drive, so every game must be bought or streamed digitally. At $673.95 at Gud Electronics as of November 3, 2026, it sits well above the console's typical street price, so this is not a good moment to buy.

Fast load times from the SSD
Quiet running under load
