Our take on the Midea 4.4 CF Top Load Washer & 7.0 CF Electric Dryer MLTW44A4BWWEKIT

This is a two-piece laundry pair: a 4.4 cu ft top-load washer with a center agitator and a 7.0 cu ft electric dryer, sold together as a kit. Both connect for smart control, and the washer has a dual-phase dispenser for detergent and softener. The washer is a conventional agitator design, so it cleans well but is harder on delicate fabrics than an impeller machine. The dryer's 7.0 cu ft drum is roomy for a family but needs a 240V electric hookup.

Questions and answers

Is this pair worth it over buying a washer and dryer separately?
Buying the kit usually costs less than the two units separately and guarantees the pair matches. Check the total against a mid-range agitator washer plus a 7.0 cu ft dryer from LG or Whirlpool before deciding.
Does the dryer need a special outlet?
Yes. It is an electric dryer and needs a 240V circuit, typically a 30-amp dryer receptacle and venting to the outside. It will not run on a standard 120V wall outlet.
How does the agitator washer treat delicates?
An agitator machine is fine for everyday cottons and towels but rougher on sweaters and lingerie. Use a mesh bag and a gentle cycle, or wash delicates by hand.
What sizes of loads fit?
The 4.4 cu ft washer handles a queen comforter and a normal family load. The 7.0 cu ft dryer takes the same load with room to tumble, including bulky bedding.
When is the price lowest?
Laundry pairs typically drop during Black Friday, Memorial Day and Labor Day sales and during new-model clearance. Track the price history here and buy when it sits near the low end of its recent range.
What comes in the box?
You get the washer, the dryer and the power cords. Hoses, dryer vent kit and installation are usually extra, so confirm with the store before ordering.
