Our take on the Miller Manufacturing Plastic Mason Jar Set of 12

This is a 12-jar set of 16-ounce clear plastic jars with metal lids, styled after traditional skep beehives and sold for honey and beekeeping use. Each jar has a label area on both sides and an airtight lid. The listing describes the jars as plastic while the material line says glass, so confirm the body material before buying. No current price was provided, so there is no price comparison to make here.

Questions and answers

Is the jar body plastic or glass?
The product name and specs disagree: the name says plastic, the material line says glass. Confirm with the seller before ordering, since this changes weight, breakage risk and recyclability.
Are these jars dishwasher safe?
No. The listing states they are not dishwasher safe, so hand wash and dry them, and keep the metal lids dry to limit rust.
How much honey does one jar hold?
Each jar holds 16 ounces, about one pound of honey by weight. A 12-jar set holds roughly 12 pounds total.
Will standard canning lids fit?
The neck diameter is listed at 1.75 inches, which is not a standard wide-mouth canning size. Use the lids included in the set unless you measure the threads first.
What is included in the set?
The set is listed as 24 pieces, which works out to 12 jars and 12 lids. No labels are mentioned, so plan to print your own.
When is the best time to buy?
Beekeeping supplies often see discounts in late winter and early spring before the harvest season. Check the price history before buying.
