Our take on the Milwaukee M12 FUEL 12-Volt Brushless Cordless 6 in. Random Orbital Sander Kit (3/16 in) with Batteries and M12 Grease Gun

This is a Milwaukee M12 FUEL 12-volt brushless 6-inch random orbital sander kit with a 3/16-inch orbit, two batteries and a charger, bundled with an M12 grease gun. The brushless motor and variable speed make it a compact cordless sander for spot work, trim and small panels where a corded 5-inch sander is awkward. The 6-inch pad is larger than most 12-volt sanders, so it covers more area per pass but draws harder on the small battery. It is a kit bundle, so the value depends on whether you need the grease gun as well as the sander.

Questions and answers

Is the Milwaukee M12 FUEL sander worth it over a corded sander?
For spot work, trim and overhead jobs, yes: no cord and M12 battery compatibility are the draw. For long sessions on large surfaces, a corded 5-inch sander with more power is the better tool.
How does the 3/16-inch orbit compare to a 5/16-inch sander?
A 3/16-inch orbit leaves a finer scratch pattern and suits finish sanding and between-coat work. A larger orbit removes material faster but is harder to control on fine finishes.
How long do the batteries last while sanding?
Expect short runtime under continuous load, since sanding is one of the heaviest draws on a 12-volt pack. The kit includes two batteries so one can charge while the other runs.
What comes in the kit?
The sander, two M12 lithium-ion batteries, a charger and the M12 grease gun. Confirm the exact battery amp-hour ratings and whether a case or dust bag is included before buying.
Does it use standard 6-inch sanding discs?
Yes, it takes 6-inch hook-and-loop discs with a 3/16-inch orbit pattern. Stock a range of grits, since the large pad uses discs faster than a 5-inch sander.
When is the best time to buy this kit?
Milwaukee kits see the deepest discounts around Black Friday and during spring tool promotions. Check the price history before buying, since bundle pricing swings more than bare-tool pricing.
