Our take on the Milwaukee Tool M12 FUEL 5-3/8 Inch Circular Saw Kit

The Milwaukee M12 FUEL 5-3/8 Inch Circular Saw is a compact 12-volt cordless saw built for one-handed cuts in trim, siding, plywood and OSB. It runs on Milwaukee's brushless FUEL motor and M12 batteries, which keeps it light and small enough to carry in a tool bag. The kit bundles the saw with battery and charger. It is a specialty saw, not a replacement for an 18-volt framing saw on thick stock.

Best forTrim carpenters and remodelers cutting plywood, siding and 1x materialElectricians and plumbers making quick cuts in tight spacesHomeowners who already own M12 batteriesRoofers and deck builders who want a light one-handed saw
Pros
  • Light and compact enough for one-handed overhead or ladder work
  • Brushless FUEL motor with good runtime for a 12-volt saw
  • Blade-left design keeps the cut line visible
  • Runs on the same M12 batteries as other Milwaukee tools
  • Kit includes battery and charger, so it is ready to use
Cons
  • 5-3/8 inch blade limits depth of cut, so it struggles in thick lumber
  • Not a substitute for an 18-volt saw on framing and repeated rips
  • Smaller blade means slower cutting in hardwoods
  • Battery and charger add cost if you already own M12 packs

What reviewers say

Owners treat it as a specialty trim saw rather than a main circular saw. They like the light weight, one-handed control and clean cuts in plywood and siding, and accept the shallow cut depth as the trade-off.

Pros
  • Very light and easy to control with one hand
  • Clean cuts in plywood, OSB and siding
  • Good battery life on M12 packs
  • Blade-left layout makes the cut line easy to follow
Cons
  • Depth of cut is too shallow for 2x framing lumber
  • Slower than an 18-volt saw in thicker or harder material
  • Some find the stock blade needs upgrading

Questions and answers

How deep will the M12 5-3/8 saw cut?
At 90 degrees it cuts roughly 1-5/8 inches deep, and less at a bevel. That covers plywood, siding and 1x trim but not full-depth 2x lumber.
Is it a replacement for an 18-volt circular saw?
No. It is a compact trim saw. Keep an 18-volt or corded saw for framing, repeated rips and thick stock.
What comes in the kit?
The kit includes the saw, an M12 battery, a charger and a blade. Confirm the exact battery capacity and blade in the listing before buying.
Does it use the same batteries as other Milwaukee M12 tools?
Yes. It runs on any Milwaukee M12 battery, so it shares packs with M12 drills, impact drivers and other M12 tools.
Can it cut at a bevel?
Yes, the shoe bevels for angled cuts, but depth of cut drops as you tilt the blade. Check the bevel range in the listing.
Where can I buy the Milwaukee Tool M12 FUEL 5-3/8 Inch Circular Saw Kit?
2 stores we checked sell it, including Walmart, The Milwaukee Store.
