Our take on the Morimoto D2S XB HID Bulb 6000K

The Morimoto D2S XB is a pair of 35W HID replacement bulbs for factory D2S headlight projectors. They use Philips quartz glass and are sold with alcohol wipes for handling. Output is estimated at 2,800–3,500 lumens with a 3–5 year service life. The best new price is $41 at The Lighting Guru as of November 5, 2026, the only new listing tracked, so there is no recent range to compare against.

Best forDrivers replacing burned-out factory D2S bulbsOwners of cars with OEM HID projectorsBuyers who want a matched pair, not a single bulbNighttime commuters wanting a warmer, less blue beam
Pros
  • Sold as a matched pair, so both sides age together
  • Philips quartz glass resists heat and color shift
  • Standard D2S base drops into factory HID housings
  • 35W draw matches most OEM ballasts
  • Includes alcohol wipes for clean, oil-free handling
Cons
  • No ballast included; you reuse your factory unit
  • Color temperature is listed inconsistently (5000K vs 6000K in the name)
  • Not a legal upgrade for halogen housings
  • Lifespan depends on ballast condition and hours of use

Questions and answers

Is $41 a good price for these bulbs?
It is the only new price tracked, $41 at The Lighting Guru as of November 5, 2026. Comparable D2S pairs from name brands usually run higher, so it is a low entry price for a pair.
Will these fit my car?
Only if your car came with D2S HID projectors and D2S ballasts. They are not a plug-in upgrade for halogen reflector housings.
Do I need new ballasts?
No. The bulbs run on your existing 35W D2S ballasts. Replace a ballast only if it is faulty or flickering.
What color temperature do I actually get?
The listing is inconsistent: the name says 6000K, the specs say 5000K and also describe golden yellow. Expect a white beam with a slight warm tint rather than deep yellow.
What is in the box?
Two D2S bulbs and alcohol wipes. No ballast or wiring is included.
When is the price lowest?
HID bulb prices move little, but pair deals and seasonal sales are the usual dips. Check the price history before buying if you are not in a hurry.
Where is the Morimoto D2S XB HID Bulb 6000K cheapest?
At The Lighting Guru, for $41.00, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Morimoto D2S XB HID Bulb 6000K?
Rated 4.7 out of 5 from 121 ratings.
Where can I buy the Morimoto D2S XB HID Bulb 6000K?
2 stores we checked sell it, including The Lighting Guru, eBay.
