Our take on the Mustar MDP-1200 88-Key Hammer Action Weighted Piano

The Mustar MDP-1200 is a full 88-key digital piano with graded hammer-action keys, a wooden body and stand, and a built-in sound engine with 800 tones, 600 rhythms and 80 demo songs. Dual stereo speakers, Bluetooth, USB-MIDI and a 3.5mm jack cover practice, apps and recording, and a metal sustain pedal and cover come in the box. Its best new price is $299.99 at Mustar as of November 3, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no meaningful recent price range to compare against. At that price it undercuts most name-brand weighted 88-key pianos, which typically run several hundred dollars more.

Best forBeginners who want a weighted 88-key feel without spending muchHome practice with headphonesPlayers who want arranger features like rhythms and auto-accompanimentSimple recording and app use over USB-MIDI or Bluetooth
Pros
  • Graded hammer-action keys at a budget price
  • Wooden body and included stand, pedal and cover
  • Dual 25W stereo speakers are loud enough for a room
  • Bluetooth, USB-MIDI and 3.5mm output for apps and recording
  • Large tone and rhythm library with metronome and recording
Cons
  • Only one store lists it new, so price comparison is limited
  • Corded power only; no battery option
  • 50 x 11 x 30 inches and wood construction make it heavy to move
  • 800 tones and 600 rhythms are mostly filler beyond the core piano sounds
  • Little independent testing of the key action and sound engine

Questions and answers

Is the MDP-1200 worth it for a beginner?
Yes, if you want a weighted 88-key feel on a tight budget. It includes a stand, pedal and cover, so there is little else to buy. Expect basic onboard sounds rather than concert-grade piano tone.
How does it compare with a Yamaha or Roland 88-key piano?
It costs far less, and the trade-off is a less refined key action and sound engine. Name brands also have wider service networks and more independent reviews. Try the keys in person if you can.
Does it have batteries or only a cord?
It is corded electric only. There is no battery option, so plan for a wall outlet near where it sits.
Can I use headphones and connect to a phone or computer?
Yes. There is a 3.5mm jack for headphones and silent practice, plus USB-MIDI and Bluetooth for apps and recording.
What is in the box?
The piano, stand, metal sustain pedal and a cloth cover. The stool is not included unless you pick the piano-and-stool option.
When is it cheapest?
Only Mustar lists it new at $299.99 as of November 3, 2026, so there is no competing price to wait for. Watch for seasonal sales at Mustar rather than store-to-store discounts.
Where is the Mustar MDP-1200 88-Key Hammer Action Weighted Piano cheapest?
