Our take on the Napoleon Entice 42 Electric Fireplace

The Napoleon Entice 42 is a 42-inch wall-mounted electric fireplace with a black finish and a forced-air fan heater rated at 5,000 BTU (1,500W). It gives flame visuals without a chimney or gas line, and the heater can run or stay off for year-round ambiance. The best new price is $958.93 at Lowe's as of November 4, 2026, the only new price seen, so there is no recent range to compare it against.

Best forLiving rooms and bedrooms where a gas line or vent is not possibleRenters and condo owners who want a fireplace without structural workBuyers who want flame ambiance in summer and heat in winterWide 42-inch walls that need a focal point
Pros
  • No venting, gas line or chimney needed
  • Heater is separate from the flame, so it can run as ambiance only
  • 5,000 BTU output warms a small-to-medium room
  • Wide 42-inch viewing area for the size class
  • Hardwired or plug-in flexibility typical of this class
Cons
  • 5,000 BTU is supplemental heat, not a whole-room furnace
  • Fan-forced heat adds some noise
  • Electric heat costs more per BTU than gas in most markets
  • Only one new price found, so no price history to judge the deal
  • Wall mounting and any hardwiring add installation effort

Questions and answers

Is the Napoleon Entice 42 worth it?
It suits buyers who want a wide, ventless fireplace with a real fan heater and can accept supplemental heat. At $958.93 at Lowe's as of November 4, 2026, it is priced like a premium electric insert, so compare flame realism and warranty against cheaper 42-inch units before deciding.
How much space will 5,000 BTU heat?
Roughly 400 to 500 square feet in a well-insulated room, depending on climate and ceiling height. Treat it as zone heating for the room it sits in, not a replacement for a central furnace.
Can I use the flames without the heat?
Yes. The flame effect runs independently of the 1,500W heater, so you can keep the look on in summer. The heater has its own on/off and thermostat control.
Does it need venting or a gas line?
No. It is electric, so it needs only a power source and a wall to mount on. Check whether your unit is set up for plug-in or hardwired installation before you buy.
What comes in the box?
Expect the fireplace unit, mounting hardware and a remote control, which is standard for this line. Confirm the exact contents and cord length on the Lowe's listing before ordering.
When is it cheapest?
Electric fireplaces usually dip during fall fireplace promotions and post-holiday clearance. With only one new price recorded, watch the Lowe's price around those windows rather than assuming $958.93 is the floor.
Where is the Napoleon Entice 42 Electric Fireplace cheapest?
At Lowe's, for $958.93, as of our latest check.
