Is the Napoleon Vector 38 worth it?

It is worth it if you want a wide linear flame as a design feature and can budget for professional installation. If you mainly need heat, a higher-BTU unit or a stove may suit you better.

How much heat does it put out?

It is rated at 30,000 BTU on natural gas with radiant heating. That is enough to take the chill off a living room, not to heat a whole house.

Does it work during a power outage?

The battery back-up control system keeps the electronic ignition and controls running when power is out. You still need the gas supply on.

What is included in the box?

The fireplace, the premium safety barrier and the eFIRE remote controller are included. Venting, framing materials and the gas line are not.

Can it run on propane?

The listed model is natural gas only. Check with Napoleon or your installer before assuming an LP conversion kit exists for this unit.

When is the best time to buy?

Fireplace prices often dip in spring and summer, outside the fall and winter heating season. Compare store prices and check the price history before ordering.

Our take on the Napoleon Vector 38 Direct Vent Gas Fireplace

The Napoleon Vector 38 is a built-in direct vent gas fireplace with a 38-inch linear firebox and a 30,000 BTU radiant burner. It runs on natural gas with electronic ignition and a battery back-up control system, and it comes with an eFIRE remote. Its signature look is the Divinity flame pattern over a multi-coloured LED ember bed with a NIGHT LIGHT setting. It is a premium built-in unit, so the installed cost depends heavily on venting and framing.
