Is the Vertuo Next worth it over the original Vertuo?

Yes if counter space matters, since the Next is slimmer and has the same brewing system. The original Vertuo has a larger tank and a better reliability record.

Can it use regular Nespresso Original pods?

No. It only takes Vertuo capsules, which are wider and carry a barcode. Original line pods will not fit.

How big is the water tank?

37.2 fl oz, about 1.1 liters. That is roughly 8 to 10 espresso cups or 4 to 5 mug-size coffees before a refill.

No. It brews coffee only. Nespresso sells the Aeroccino separately for hot or cold milk foam.

What comes in the box?

The machine and a starter set of Vertuo capsules. Pods and the descaling kit are bought separately.

Nespresso and retailers discount it around Black Friday and during bundle promotions with the Aeroccino. List price has stayed fairly steady otherwise.

Our take on the Nespresso Vertuo Next

The Nespresso Vertuo Next is a pod coffee maker that brews both espresso and full-size coffee by reading a barcode on each Vertuo capsule and adjusting brew settings automatically. It has a 37.2 fl oz water tank, a motorized capsule slot and a fast heat-up of about 30 seconds. It is the slimmest Vertuo machine Nespresso has sold, which suits small kitchens. It only takes Vertuo pods, not the original Nespresso line.
